# Atlas

> Use when an app needs documentation that stays true, architecture docs, a dependency map, diagrams of how the pieces fit, or an MkDocs site. Triggers on: 'document this app', 'diagram the architecture', 'map the dependencies', 'map the inner workings', 'set up mkdocs', 'mermaid diagrams in mkdocs', 'what depends on this file', 'what breaks if I change this', 'where is change expensive', 'is this doc still accurate', 'what loads this stylesheet'. Extracts a dependency model from JS, Python, HTML and CSS, so a static site's real entry point is its index.html rather than a guessed module, generates the Mermaid diagrams and MkDocs pages from that model rather than beside it, then answers questions against it with file:line citations that can be disproved, so the docs go stale loudly instead of silently. Not for Mermaid syntax questions (use mermaid-diagrams), not for choosing a C4 level (use c4-architecture), not for finding where a ticket's change goes (use wayfind).
