Why does the distinction between 'says' and 'does' matter here?
Because money is involved. A keyword in a description costs an author nothing — this index already had to stop trusting npm keywords when a Yahoo Finance client turned out to declare mcp, agent and skill. tashan can tell you how many packages make the claim, and what their upkeep, advisories and provenance look like. It cannot tell you a payment endpoint honours what it charges for.
Is anyone worried about this already?
Yes, and it is in the corpus: at least one server exists purely to “verify x402 payment endpoints before an AI agent pays”, with scam scoring. A market that has grown its own fraud-checking layer is a market with fraud in it.
How do I check one before my agent pays it?
